Bealtes Ashram, Rishikesh –

Beatles Ashram (बीटल्स आश्रम), also known as Chaurasi Kutia (चौरासी कुटिया), is an ashram close to the north Indian city of Rishikesh in the state of Uttrakhand. It is located on the eastern bank of the Ganges river, opposite the Muni ki Reti area of Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalaya’s. During the 1960s and 1970s, as the International Academy of Meditation, it was the training centre for students of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,

who devised the Transcendental Meditation Technique. The ashram gained international attention between February and April 1968 when the English rock band the Beatles studied meditation there, along with celebrities such as Donovan, Mia Farrow and Mike Love. It was the setting for the band’s most productive period as songwriters, where they composed most of the songs for their self-titled double album, also known as the “White Album”.

The site was abandoned in the 1990s and reverted to the local forestry department in 2003, after which it became a popular visiting place for fans of the Beatles. Although derelict and overrun by jungle, the site was officially opened to the public in December 2015. It is now known as Beatles Ashram and held an exhibition in February 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ arrival in Rishikesh.

Kunjapuri Devi Temple –

Kunjapuri Devi Temple is sacred temple of immense importance in Hindu religion. Located at an height of 1676 mtrs on a hill, Kunjapuri Devi Temple is one of the 52 Shaktipeeth in Uttarakhand. Here at Kunjapuri Devi Temple, the chest of burned Sati had fallen. Kunjapuri Devi Temple also offers panoramic views of snow capped mountains and peaks such as Swarga Rohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch and Chaukhamba.

Vashista Gufa –

Vashishta Gufa, situated on the banks of the Ganga River, is a popular place for meditation lovers. This is the cave where great Sage Vashishta said to have meditated. He was also among the seven great sages (Saptarishis) and the guru of Lord Ram. According to Hindu mythology, after the death of his

children, Sage Vashishta, he decided to commit suicide in River Ganga, but was refused by Goddess Ganga. Arundhati, Vashishta’s wife, liked the location and decided to stay here. Sage Vashishta meditated here for long time in a cave.It is believed that in the year 1930 Sri Swami

Purushottamananda Ji visited this gufa and now his ashram is located close to the Vashishta Gufa, where meditation is practiced. At present, the Swami Purshottamanand Trust manages this cave. The cave is a natural formation of 60 feet deep that has a Shiv Linga inclined vertically into the cave opening.

Many people feel amazing while meditating in this cave. There are some rooms built outside the cave area, where many sadhus have been living permanently.

Maa Balakumari Temple, Neelkanth, Rishikesh –

Rishikesh, about 23 km from Lakshmanjhula, on Yamkeshwar road, a little ahead of Garudchatti, near Pipalkoti (Neelkanth Diversion) one can see a grand temple on the top of the mountain on the left side, this temple is known as Maa Balakumari. To reach the temple, after about half a

kilometer on the Pipalkoti to Yamkeshwar road, there is a walk down the road from a small village called Idiya. On which the temple can be reached by walking about one kilometer. The main gate of the temple is visible after walking about three hundred meters, from here there are about 400 steps

to reach the temple. Situated in a small uninhabited plain on the summit of the mountain, all the fatigue of the way goes away as soon as one reaches the serene and picturesque atmosphere of this temple complex. Standing in the temple premises, you can have a panoramic view of the wide mountain

ranges and the surrounding area. Aamdi village is visible on one side and Gyonth village on the other side under the temple, as well as a large area of Yamkeshwar development block from Neelkanth area on one side and picturesque valley of Henwal river on one side.

According to the details received from the priest of the temple, Shri Madhavaram Kapurwan village Aamdi, this temple was established about 150 years ago. It is believed that the mother had appeared here in the form of Pindi to an old shepherd of Amdi village, after which a small temple was

established here. After that, about 40 years ago, after renovating the temple, a big temple of Mata Balakumari was built here. In the year 2005, the old temple was renovated and three temples of Ganesh, Shiva and Mata Kali were built. Although this temple is built like modern temples, but after 2005, the grandeur and grandeur of this entire temple complex is made on seeing.
