मन एव मनुष्याणां कारणं बन्धमोक्षयो
mana eva manuṣyāṇaṁ kāraṇaṁ bandha-mokṣayoḥ |
-For human beings, the Mind alone is the cause of bondage and mokṣa.
Our Yoga philosophy teacher, Acharya Sadhu Sri explains what the mind is made up of in this short video.
There are the 4 aspects of the mind.
1️⃣Manas (the mind)
2️⃣Buddhi (the intellect)
3️⃣Chitta (The memory)
4️⃣Ahamkara (the ego)
Understand these aspects helps us connect deeply with ourselves and deepen our own yoga journey. Study Yoga Philosophy in his class everyday in your Yoga Teacher Training at Himalayan Yoga Association. Which aspect do you connect with the most?
The Nature of Mind
Mind is not just one entity, but the mind is the 4 entities together.
1- Manas – The thinking mind, the one that receives the information.
2- Buddhi – The intellect, the decision, the one that guides.
3- Chitta – The storehouse. The one the stores all the impressions and the memories.
4- Ahankara – The ego, the one that gives us the sense of “I”.
The purpose of yoga is to combine and harmonize all the aspects of the mind together and live a fulfilled life, free from our own conditioning and suffering.
