Himalayan Yoga Association welcomes you to join our 300 Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, a special program for yoga practitioners and certified teachers who want to learn more about the deep and calming practice of Yin Yoga. This advanced training helps you grow your teaching skills, improve your personal practice, and explore a gentle and healing way of doing yoga.
Yin Yoga focuses on slow movements and longer held poses. It works deeply into the body’s joints, ligaments, fascia, and other connective tissues, helping to release tension and improve flexibility. At the same time, it encourages stillness and mindfulness, making it a perfect balance to active forms of exercise. You will learn how to guide others through this peaceful practice while deepening your own experience.
Our school is located in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world, surrounded by the sacred Ganges River and the Himalayan hills. This serene and spiritual atmosphere supports your personal growth and helps create a deeper connection with yoga and yourself. It is not just a training, it is a journey of healing and self discovery.
This Yoga Alliance certified 300 Hour Yin Yoga program goes beyond poses and theory. It offers tools to lead calm, thoughtful classes and gives you the confidence to support others in their yoga paths. By the end of the course, you will feel more connected, balanced, and ready to share Yin Yoga with students around the world.
Yin Yoga was developed from the Yin and Yang concepts which are rooted in the Chinese culture of Taoism. Yin and Yang are two forces that are diametrically opposed to each other but are interdependent; Yin is related to stillness, night, and passivity while Yang is related to movement, day, and activity, and are basic principles in Chinese philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and spirituality. This balance of opposites is ensuring order in the universe and also in our physical framework.
In Taoist tradition Yin Yoga is linked to yin or the passive or the feminine energy that is linked to stillness and passiveness. The ancient Taoists have learned that if one stretches his muscles for a long time and makes slow movements, then the stagnated energy can be released and one’s health improves. These have later developed into the physical exercise commonly referred to as yoga and were the backbone of Yin Yoga.
Besides this practice, the energy circulation is also passed through the meridians which are associated with the organs and emotions by the TCM. Unlike today’s famous styles like Vinyasa and Ashtanga, Yin Yoga is perfect for toning muscles. It assists practitioners to release their fascia and mind and is therefore appropriate for our Yang paradigm lifestyles. Today, Yin Yoga is practiced all over the world to maintain balance, flexibility and to heal the inner self. As will be seen it has principles that are still as valid today as they were thousands of years ago.
Improved Joint Flexibility: Yin Yoga also helps to hydrate the connective tissues and increase their flexibility in order to alleviate stiffness.
Improved Energy Circulation: Due to the extended activation of the energy pathways, chi or life force energy becomes balanced, resulting in enhanced vitality and emotional well-being.
Stress Reduction: Yin Yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which slows and steadies the breath, decreases the heart rate and alleviates stress.
Enhanced Emotional Healing: If one maintains the poses for longer periods, he/she relaxes and erases unwanted thoughts and feelings from the mind.
Better Sleep Quality: People get to practice on a regular basis hence enhancing their ability to have a good sleep in the long run
Increased Mindfulness: Yin Yoga helps you practice presence; you pay attention to your body, mind, and the environment.

Yogi Tanmay
His story with yoga began early—watching his father practice with sages and live by the quiet strength of Karma Yoga. Those moments were planting seeds in him. Years later, during the stillness of the pandemic, something awakened. He felt a strong pull inward and chose to follow that call. He enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Yoga Science at the University of Patanjali. For three years, he dove deep into asana, philosophy, and discipline—and something inside him transformed but his curiosity didn't end there. That led me to the Himalayas, where he studied Yoga Therapy. There, he saw how traditional yogic wisdom could meet modern medicine in beautiful, meaningful ways.
He traveled to Tuscany to learn Yin & Yang Yoga—experiencing the power of stillness and flow. He also explored Sound Healing and other subtle therapies, discovering how vibration and energy can shift the body and mind in profound ways. Yoga has been his path of remembering—of coming home to himself. And as he stands here today, he says he feels honoured to share that journey with all of you.
