Unlike active yoga styles, Yin Yoga helps you slow down, focus on your breath, and feel more balanced in your body and mind. It is perfect for people who live busy lives and want to feel relaxed and centered.
Held in the peaceful surroundings of Uluwatu Bali, this training gives you the chance to connect with yourself in a natural and quiet space. The calm atmosphere supports your learning and personal transformation. You won’t just earn a certificate, you will leave with a clearer mind, stronger practice, and the tools to help others on their yoga path.
The History of Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga was developed from the Yin and Yang concepts which are rooted in the Chinese culture of Taoism. Yin and Yang are two forces that are diametrically opposed to each other but are interdependent; Yin is related to stillness, night, and passivity while Yang is related to movement, day, and activity, and are basic principles in Chinese philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and spirituality. This balance of opposites is ensuring order in the universe and also in our physical framework.
In Taoist tradition Yin Yoga is linked to yin or the passive or the feminine energy that is linked to stillness and passiveness. The ancient Taoists have learned that if one stretches his muscles for a long time and makes slow movements, then the stagnated energy can be released and one’s health improves. These have later developed into the physical exercise commonly referred to as yoga and were the backbone of Yin Yoga.
Besides this practice, the energy circulation is also passed through the meridians which are associated with the organs and emotions by the TCM. Unlike today’s famous styles like Vinyasa and Ashtanga, Yin Yoga is perfect for toning muscles. It assists practitioners to release their fascia and mind and is therefore appropriate for our Yang paradigm lifestyles. Today, Yin Yoga is practiced all over the world to maintain balance, flexibility and to heal the inner self. As will be seen it has principles that are still as valid today as they were thousands of years ago.
